I have to say it is quite emotional to read this, the utter heartbreak for the young victims.
The 2 elders who refused to testify take the stand today.

is that then proof enough that there is life after death?.
does that mean we do actually have a soul?.
could you touch them for real?.

I have found your comments on this subject quite refreshing.
I agree with many here - I think the JW view is wrong but I also feel that death of the human body is not the end, perhaps merely the beginning.
I have never had an experience of contact from the other side - but I think I would like to, it would boost my confidance of life after death.
There is a TV show produced in the UK hosted by Colin fry, he is a spirit medium.
To say I was sceptical of such people at one time is putting it mildly.
But after watching him - it is truly amazing. The specific details he provides about dead loved ones it fascinating.
what would wt do?.
new scientist magazine says that in the event of say a pandemic, he things we take for granted could collapse .eg electricity, clean water etc.
The WTBTS would say - Ah, told you so!! And then gleefully rub there hands as suffering and misery spread around the globe.
On a more serious note - A number of years ago there was a fuel blockade in britain, only for a few days. The tanker drivers went on strike.
But pretty quickly the fuel pumps started to empty. People had to join a queue to fill the tank in there car.
One afternoon I joined one of these queue's and when I got near the front I saw a group of men fighting on the forecourt because a guy had jumped the queue. Its not that there was no petrol it was just that there was a shortage and it was being rationed, if people were patient and waited 30 minutes or so they would get the fuel they needed.
The wives and kids of these guys were sitting in the cars watching. All a bit scary.
This highlighted to me that when the essentials are taken away - i.e. food, electricity, water, fuel etc humans go into self preservation mode.
obviously by my post title you can gather that i don't, but thats not to say i do not agree with lowering pollution in whichever way we can.
but on the flip side, just another money grabbing ploy by the government?
the uk government is making a big thing about it through their mouthpiece on earth, the bbc.
Hmm - do I believe in Global Warming????
Of course I do!!! The evidence is undeniable.
Look here - www.worldviewofglobalwarming.org/pages/glaciers.html (Scroll down about half way down the page to see pictures of glacier melt, pretty shocking.)
The tricky question is - Are humans to blame?
Well, we have definately made it worse. The film - An Inconvenient Truth provides much evidence.

The most materialistic man I have ever met.
what goes on behind the doors of the governing body is never published, but it can be surmised that recent years' service reports (which show a disturbing falling off of levels of increase), warrant a special push on getting new members.
with the experience of the 1975 fiasco, the governing body must know that creating a fear of an early armageddon would bring in more members, and the deliverance at hand assemblies did just that, with quite good increases in membership during the 2007 service year at 3.1% of active members.
the following data comparison probably identifies a cause for concern for the governing body :-.
Thanks for the stats.
Quite an eye opener. What are the chances of these stats being in a WT article?? Not likely. LOL.
If this trend continues they will be having real problems in the next few years.
Plus, the internet must be a factor in the number of those leaving - learning the truth about the truth.

so, the people in my congo expended hours and hours distributing the invitations, but the attendance was the same as always (actually a little less than other years).
how about your congo?
-ootn
Our cong distributed 8500 tracts and the attendance was down 13. Not a single member of the public came with the invite.
now that memorial is past i hope that all is well for everyone mentally, physically, emotionally.
many were in a great turmoil as to feelings and what to do about.
going , so how are we all today?
I just survived. Attendance was down from 113 to 100. No partakers.
A sister dropped a plate of bread. apart from that it was pretty boring.
Wine did smell good right enough!
it happened last night guys.
i got early to the kh and the boe came to talk to me.
they ask me to read the bible and asked me a couple of questions.

I have not read all of this thread, I think it was all said on the other thread you started a few days ago.
Look, you are clearly in a difficult situation. fair enough.
BUT STOP DREAMING!!!! You will not help anyone out of the org by being an elder. Though a few on this site give examples of some elder managing to get there family out - this is very very rare. You will now find it more difficult to live the double life. I was an elder, realised it was not the truth and from then on it was totally frustrating. The only honourable thing I could do was step down as an elder. If staying an elder could help in getting family out we would have all done it, but, this site is full of ex elders.
It is worthy to note that if you are found out you will be disfellowshipped real quick, when you possibly could have faded and kept contact with family.
You mention the questions elders ask you before they appoint you. The child abuse question is old news - its been on the internet for years.
One of the other questions is along the lines of - Is their anything in your personal life that would disqualify you? You clearly had to dodge this one by not telling the truth, you cant possibly feel good about that!!!!!!
Anyway, all the best for the future and I hope you acheive what it is you are planning.
